After a random jump, I found myself in the basement of a ruined house. I negotiated my way around slimy puddles and past rocks and bricks overgrown with moss, until I could see the sky.
The stinking, wet basement was getting to me, and I flew upwards to sit on a beam sticking out of the ruin, both to get a breath of fresh air and to see where I was. And maybe, I could find someone to talk to.
There seemed to be nobody around but myself, a few windswept leaves and the skeletons of cats. The ruin was creaking dangerously in the wind, and the beam was swaying precariously. I had to get away from the building which seemed in danger of collapsing. Luckily, I saw an old cabin in the distance, and I headed over to it.
But there, too, was no sign of life except for the mosses and trees growing over what once was human habitation. Exhausted, I curled up under the stairs.
When evening fell, I finally heard signs of life. There were birds singing sweetly in the distance, and insects chirping and humming in the undergrowth. I relaxed on the porch of the dilapidated house, listening to the life around me. Whatever had happened to the human inhabitants of this region, wherever there had gone, I would probably never find out, but for the moment, I felt at peace.
